Parking Issue

Parking is always an issue at Bear Creek Park, but when a little girl was killed in the hit-and-run early last week it meant this past weekend was going to be worse. The timing of that tragedy was a direct result in the increased police presence we saw this weekend. An email went out and the website was posted with the warning not to park on the grass; we had an extended discussion about it at the Friday night meeting, too. But unfortunately not everyone got the message.

To anyone who got a parking ticket, HFA encourages you to protest it. We have to have more parking at Bear Creek park and it's ridiculous to think that writing tickets will solve anything if there's nowhere else to go but on the grass. The solution to a tragedy is not to punish park-goers, but to create more available parking. If enough of us are vocal about it, perhaps the county will understand the need.

HFA apologizes to you and your teammates who got ticketed - it had to be frustrating and probably left you with a bad taste. But hopefully we can make the county resolve the issue in time for next year's tournament and we'll see you back again.
